benlysta b/c my numbers are consistently bad. The thing is what's left of my teeth are infected and have needed to be pulled for a few years now. I'm afraid to start it with this mouth infection, and I sure can't afford a dentist. Should I start the cellcept or rob a bank first? Any help is appreciated💜

I would seek resources to treat your infection first. Check to see if there is a dental school near you. Benlysta has a patient assistance program to apply for when you feel ready to get started on it. Definitely deal with that infection because it can spread to other parts of your body.

Dear KatJohns,
Be sure if you take Plaquinil, to get your eyes checked regularly!! It can cause retina detachment!! I was on it for years! I am no longer on any meds!! I may have to go back on meds when I go back in 2 months!!

Great suggestions from @A MyLupusTeam Member and @A MyLupusTeam Member. The only other point I wonder about is how you are feeling and which of your numbers look bad. Some rheumatologists want to increase meds when it's not necessary, and frankly, I've had this happen a few times in my long lupie life.

If you're feeling okay and not having an organ flare and just have high inflammatory markers, Kat, I would consider a second opinion. On the other hand, if you're feeling unwell and having an organ flare, the added med makes sense. Can you or do you go to U Ab in Birmingham, by chance? That's supposed to be an excellent medical center.

I agree with the others about treating your infection first, unless you're in a severe organ flare. But please also look critically at whether you need the added med and discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Keep us posted!😘
