Great explanation from @Scgriffin5--Most with those never progress to anything worrisome, Cindy. It is more common for us lupies. Please just keep up with the regular follow-ups, and I hope you both remain stable.💜
Simply put, there is a protein in your blood that shouldn't be there (if you have an M-spike from your MGUS diagnosis). There is a very small chance that it turns into Multiple Myeloma. It isn't rare that someone with Lupus has this show up.
Not sure if it's the meds or what. I have multiple diagnosis and im on tons of meds and mine showed up close to 8 years ago. Im being closely monitored by my Oncologist since the diagnosis. My Rheumy said this happens and my Oncologist said yes, but not for me. Ive never really gotten more of an explanation for that but I do my labs and they watch me. You can ask me whatever you want to. 💜
Thank you for all the good information on MGUS.
Hi PamelaBean! I have previously fallen and cracked two vertebrae. I ended up with a brace rather than surgery. I still use the brace on bad days when my back flares up.
Hope things go well for you. I will keep you in my prayers.
I have had MGUS show up and also go away on it's own. With autoimmune diseases you'll find that numbers change all the time. It showed up 1 time when my Rheumy was trying to figure something else out. But I've had 2 more rounds of bwork over a 6 month period and it's not showing! Hematologist says this can happen... don't stress & rest! ❤️🙏
