I had the flu one summer and was instructed to stop my lupus medication until i finished my 7 days of antibiotics, and then I can continue taking them as usual. I’ve also been battling depression….one thing led to another and I started to forget taking my meds more and more til I’d go weeks without them. I’m not sure what to tell my doctor I’m kind of scared to tell him because he’s almost parental and I would not like to get lectured. I’m trying to take them consistently again.

@GermaineAiello2--PLEASE discuss this with your doctor, Germaine! I think we all need to keep in mind that even if our lupus has been mild with no organ involvement, it's possible that organ flares can develop. The risk is greater when stopping meds. If there's uncertainty about your diagnosis, it's worth seeking a second opinion, but stopping meds on one's own is potentially dangerous.

First, find a way to remember to take your medications. Try using an alarm on your phone to remind you to take them. Keep your meds and a water bottle in the area you are in most at home. That way if you don't feel like getting up, they will be there. There are also medication reminder apps on your phone.

When you see your doctor, be honest. If you really are trying to get back to a routine to remember taking your meds, let him or her know. Before the conversation begins, ask your doctor not to judge or lecture you for what you are about to share. You are only human. Hopefully, the discussion will go better than you think. I hope this helps and I pray your depression subsides..
