You can take Tylenol, Amanda, but PLEASE SEE YOUR DOCTOR! This could be due to pneumonia, bronchitis, pleurisy, or muscle pain, but it's important to find the cause.

What can help relieve chest pain when coughing?

Chest pain with coughing can be concerning and may be related to lung conditions that affect people with lupus. It's important to report these symptoms to your doctor right away, as catching lung conditions early gives you the best chance at successful treatment.

While waiting to see your doctor, here are some things that may help with chest pain:

* Apply heat or cold therapy - Try a heating pad or warm bath to help relax muscles, or use a cold compress wrapped in cloth
* Wear loose-fitting clothing - Avoid tight clothes or underwired bras that put pressure on your chest
* Rest as much as possible during flare-ups
* Take over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or Tylenol if appropriate for you

However, you should seek medical attention right away if you have severe chest pain or shortness of breath, as these can be signs of serious conditions. Your doctor may refer you to a lung specialist and can prescribe stronger medications if needed, such as prescription anti-inflammatories or corticosteroids.

Don't wait to get this checked out - persistent coughing and chest pain need proper evaluation to determine the cause and best treatment.

Yes I do about 6 months ago, lately it's gotten worse upon standing and walking for 5- 10 mins.

@SeleneLillieWhiteShuford--Do you have shortness of breath, Selene? You should see a lung specialist if you do. And have you had lung function tests?
