Is beet juice beneficial for lupus inflammation and detoxification?

While beet juice isn't specifically mentioned in lupus research, the focus for managing lupus inflammation should be on foods with proven anti-inflammatory benefits.

Foods that have shown promise for reducing lupus inflammation include:

* Fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants (like blueberries and spinach)
* Fatty fish containing omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, mackerel, sardines)
* Whole grains high in fiber and antioxidants
* Foods rich in vitamins A, C, and selenium
* Turmeric, which contains curcumin

Regarding "detoxification," your kidneys and liver naturally handle this process. If you have lupus nephritis or kidney concerns, it's especially important to talk with your doctor before adding new juices to your diet, as some can affect kidney function.

Before making significant dietary changes or adding beet juice, consult with your rheumatologist or a registered dietitian who understands lupus. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation and any medications you're taking.

For those of us with lupus nephritis, please be mindful of your potassium intake. Beets appear to be loaded with potassium.

Beet Juice is a diurectic. I have to stay away from diurectics as I flare with them. I would ask my doctor if OK to take. God bless
