Worst one is when I passed out in kitchen and hit my head on work top cracking my head open and needed 30 stitches. Was in hospital for a week. Very nasty accident.
Recently I was on a cruise and went to the loo in our cabin but passed out as I went to sit down luckily I called hubby early enough for him to hold me on loo and help to bring me round. Then I had upset tummy when I came round. I have ibs . I think I need to speak to my gp about these passing out episodes xxxx

You definitely need a thorough evaluation, Rose, and please stay well hydrated in the meantime, as @A MyLupusTeam Member says.

Hello @A MyLupusTeam Member I did until an EMT instructed me to immediately sit or lie down no matter where I am when I feel dizzy. A Loop-Recorder was implanted January 2026 after they discarded the original plan which was to implant a Pacemaker. I will find out the details soon. How are you feeling right now?💜👋🏼😃

Yes, please speak to your doctor. I have to be very careful with my water and hydration status as I loose fluids (that's my flare) very quickly. So when I feel myself getting dizzy, and I am loosing water(urinating, salivating, tearing, nasal drip and pooping) I know to get myself somewhere and sit down and have some fluids and bread and protein. Please talk to your doctor on how to replace fluids that you loose. God bless and I am praying for you.

Do you experience passing out episodes, especially with stomach pain and bathroom urgency?

Yes, speaking with your GP about these passing out episodes is absolutely the right step, especially given the serious injury you experienced. Fainting can have several causes in people with lupus, and it's important to identify what's triggering yours.

Possible causes of fainting with lupus include:

- Orthostatic hypotension (sudden blood pressure drop when changing positions)
- Anemia, which is common with lupus and can cause dizziness and fainting
- Dehydration, though this needs careful management if you have any kidney involvement
- In rare cases, neuropsychiatric lupus (NPSLE) can cause seizures that may look like fainting episodes

The pattern you're describing - fainting when you have stomach pain and need the bathroom - suggests your episodes might be related to a vasovagal response (where straining or abdominal discomfort triggers a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure). However, given your lupus, your doctor will want to rule out other causes.

Before your appointment, try tracking:

- When episodes happen
- What you were doing beforehand
- Any warning signs you notice
- How long they last

This information will help your GP determine the cause and recommend appropriate treatment to keep you safe.
