I use Ivory soap to wash my hair as I am allergic to any and all regular shampoos. I do use baby shampoo occasionally but Ivory soap does the job. Then I dry my hair. I wear a buzz cut now as I lost all my hair in a year long flare. I dry my hair by a cotton towel then I apply vasoline or a&d ointment. I also use Shea Butter on my face and scalp. I use shea butter on my face 2x a day and on my scalp at nite and that stops that itiching and provides moisture. The Shea butter provides moisture but is not greasy. I am unable to use creams as they all have alcohol in them. This helps me the most. I also stopped wearing a wig as that seem to irritate my scalp all day. I now wear a cotton hat and face mask and that seems to do the job. I am praying for you. When I get horrible scalp itching I use a scabbies gel as it does not have alcholhol in it. its called Dermveda Scabies Itch Relief Treatment - Anti-Itch Serum for Itching, Skin Irritation. I hope this helps. God bless.

My scalp is so sensitive and at times itchy. I have been using a natural shampoo and conditioner, but it's pricey. I only wash my hair one time a week which helps with the dryness. Hope you find something that works for you. God Bless ❤️

An itchy scalp is actually really common with lupus — so you're definitely not alone in this! Many MyLupusTeam members report scalp itchiness, and it can be linked to discoid lupus (a skin form of lupus) or even a flare-up.

Here are some things that may help ease the itch: - Switch to a gentle, fragrance-free shampoo — harsh chemicals can make things worse
- Avoid fabric softeners and scented detergents on pillowcases and clothing
- Try breathable fabrics like cotton to reduce skin irritation
- Protect your scalp from UV light, as sun exposure can trigger flares and worsen scalp symptoms
- Consider a water softener — one MyLupusTeam member found it significantly reduced their itching and skin sensitivity

It's worth mentioning to your rheumatologist or a dermatologist, as they may recommend prescription shampoos, topical treatments, or review your current medications to help manage it.
