I'm in the midst of a flare snd starting itching all over, especially my scalp. I have no rash or hives but itch like crazy. My hair has significantly thinned and so brittle and wondering if the itchy scalp is due to follicles being attacked. Of course since no rash/hives dr has no explanation. I have other pains since in active flare but the itching is new and wondering if anyone else has experienced.

I itch constantly, scalp, face, stomach, just about my whole body. I’ve tried all different bath and shampoo products to help with itching. I found a very wise doctor who told me the itching was internal and not external. I take an antihistamine and it works most of the time. OTC antihistamines work. I take Biotin that helps with the hair loss. I had major back surgery on October 20th and total hip replacement January 29th. The physical stress of these surgeries has thrown me into a painful flare. So far I have avoided taking prednisone and sticking with my plaquenil. I’m hoping the intense physical therapy will help.
Blessings and prayers for you all and I wish y’all to be totally pain free. 🙏

I just went through this in December. It took a whole month to settle down. I did find out that these itching attacks which I get when I flare can also be from fibromyalgia....not just lupus

Try using folic acid for the hair. I was losing my hair and it helped. I had terrible itching on my arms i felt like ripping it off. I used Tea Tree i use the one by Paul Mitchell hair and body moisturizer. You can use it as lotion and also leave it on your hair as a conditioner. Im not sure where you are located but i buy mine at Ulta,it is also available online
