I took cellcept when I was first diagnosed. I had to start Saphnelo because the cellcept made me so sick and I couldn’t keep anything down. For me it was dangerous because I struggle with appetite loss and unwanted weight loss so I was so underweight when I was first diagnosed. Some people have no problems. Maybe there is a prescription they can give you for nausea. I hope you feel better soon.

It's great that you're monitoring your side effects — that's really smart! GI issues like nausea, acid reflux, and excess saliva are known side effects that some people with lupus experience when taking CellCept, especially when first starting it.

It's great that you're monitoring your side effects — that's really smart! GI issues like nausea, acid reflux, and excess saliva are known side effects that some people with lupus experience when taking CellCept, especially when first starting it.

A MyLupusTeam member shared something that really resonates: "I have so many health issues and take so many tablets, I don't even know what's side effects and what's illness anymore." So you're definitely not alone in trying to figure this out! Here are some things worth discussing with your doctor:

- Timing — Taking CellCept with food may help reduce stomach irritation
- Antacids — Over-the-counter options like Tums or Pepcid may offer relief, but check with your doctor first for any interactions
- Dose adjustment — Your doctor may be able to modify your dose if side effects are difficult to manage
- Formulation switch — There is a delayed-release version of CellCept that may be easier on the stomach

It's really important to let your rheumatologist know about these symptoms, especially if they're getting worse. They can help find the right balance so CellCept can do its job without making you miserable!
