My anti-dsDNA just came back positive at 36, and I’m waiting to see a rheumatologist. For those who were eventually diagnosed with lupus, what was your dsDNA level when you were diagnosed? Was anyone’s in a similar range?
Sara, the one thing I understand from my doctor is although the double stranded DNA shows primarily lupus, if you've been ill in anyway, it will cause your levels to be higher. Hope this helps and good luck. I also know they use other markers and combine for the diagnosis. But yes, my doctor used the DNA maker to follow inflammation levels. Let me know what your doctor decides and what treatment he is using.
It stands for antibodies against double stranded DNA
What is an anti dna? Have not heard of that? Sorry, I’m new
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. I haven’t seen a rheumatologist yet, so I’m still very early in the process and trying to learn. My anti-dsDNA came back at 36, and while I know that’s lower than some of the numbers I’ve seen others report, I’m curious whether you would still consider that fairly suggestive of lupus or if you’ve known people with levels in that range who ended up having something else. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
Sara, I wish mine were at 36. my doctor would be thrilled, I have gone as high as 80, when diagnosed was at 71. Right now at 59
