I lost power last-night due to a big storm in our area and my family member had shared a webinar video with me. It may help some or it may not, but I wanted to share it with everyone. It’s about 4 hours long but it is pretty insightful and gives some good information. I will paste the link down below.

She is a psychiatrist with lupus who went into remission on a plant-based diet, mainly in the form of smoothies. I have found eating plant-based very helpful, but it hasn't put me into remission, unfortunately. I prefer solid foods to smoothies. Some on our site have found her plan helpful, but most say it's hard to stay with it long-term. It's worth checking out for those interested!

As the least inflammatory diet, plant-based eating can help autoimmune disease and reduce the risk of cancers, heart/vascular disease, and diabetes.

I dislike smoothies as well. Need to find alternatives and recipes. Sigh:)

What a thoughtful share — glad the storm didn't keep you down for long! 🌩️ It's wonderful that you're exploring ways to support your health through nutrition.

Diet can play a meaningful role in managing lupus symptoms. Some general principles that are well-supported include: - Eating anti-inflammatory foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
- Staying well hydrated
- Focusing on whole food protein sources rather than processed options
- Limiting ultra-processed foods, excess salt, and added sugars

While dietary changes can be a helpful complement to treatment, it's really important to remember that lupus management typically requires medical treatment alongside lifestyle changes. Always check with your doctor or a registered dietitian before making significant dietary shifts, especially since some foods can interact with lupus medications like hydroxychloroquine.

Sharing resources with fellow members is a beautiful way to support each other! 💛
