I vaguely remember that feeling during my first year. I was so ill that it still feels like a lost year to me. I will keep you in my prayers and hope your pain subsides soon.💜🙏🏾

oh my goodness wow that’s something I’ve never seen done before. Hopefully you won’t have to suffer much longer and you can get some rest. I’m quite sure that that’s very painful. Sending prayers of comfort.

I also experience severe bone loss. I do have to pop my bones in my knees back in place.

That sounds really painful, and it's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when lupus affects your joints so severely. Joint inflammation is one of the most common ways lupus shows up in the body, and it can make even simple daily tasks feel impossible.
As one MyLupusTeam member described it: "When I first got sick, every joint hurt so bad, and my hands and feet were so swollen that I couldn't wear shoes or walk." There are several ways to help manage lupus-related joint inflammation. Here are some options worth discussing with your rheumatologist:
- NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) are often a first-line treatment for lupus arthritis
- Hydroxychloroquine (an antimalarial drug) is commonly used and generally effective
- Hot and cold therapy can help — heat loosens tight muscles, while cold helps calm swollen joints
- Gentle exercise like tai chi or physical therapy can help without putting too much stress on joints
- Rest is equally important, especially during flares
It's important to keep your rheumatologist closely informed about your symptoms so they can tailor the best treatment plan for you. If your pain or swelling is worsening, don't wait for your next scheduled appointment — reach out sooner.
