Members responded with great empathy to the question about toenail issues related to lupus, with many sharing that they had experienced fungal infections, ingrown toenails, discoloration, and even losing nails entirely. Several members shared helpful home remedies that worked for them, including Vicks VapoRub with socks, tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, colloidal silver, and Neosporin applied daily. A recurring theme was the importance of telling your rheumatologist about these symptoms, as many members had not connected toenail problems to lupus until reading this thread.

Girl I saw a podiatrist back in May 2026 and June 2026 and he cut my ingrown toenails smh, not blaming lupus, but I also never experienced issues with my feet and toes before.

@A MyLupusTeam Member I’ve never lost a toenail, but yes I’ve had toenail infections that have healed with vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, collodial silver, and eventually it heals and goes away. Hope your toenail grows back soon. Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend 💜🌸💜

Yep, it is a Lupus thing and yep it has happened to me too. I have found that putting vick's vapo rub on my toenails then putting socks on can help tremendously.

It’s def lupus related because I didn’t have that issue before I was diagnosed

Hello, it is so nice to hear that you turned your hair loss into something you can have fun with. I suffer the same hair loss issue. I'm bald in the same spot on both sides and it's very visible especially since I'm a ponytail gal. My hair is long and at one point stopped growing. I currently use mixed oils (rosemary, castor and argan). Those spots has not grown back but the rest is growing beautifully. I checked with my Rheumatologist prior to using these but they certainly have made a difference with my hair. I've seen some others posting hair loss so if you read this it works for me check with your Rheumatologist if you decide to use these oils.
