From having good to bad days, my days have been more grin and bear the pain (ankles, stiff fingers, wrists, upper arms, knees, etc) to overall soreness in arms and legs. Soreness in throat is a daily occurrence and since last month, swollen glands and redness in eye has reoccurred. I try not to take ibuprofen daily but if not, it´s almost every other day. Has anyone figured out relief for sore throat other than lozenges or throat drops?

What natural remedies can help relieve a daily sore throat when living with lupus?

Daily sore throats are really common with lupus, and you're definitely not alone in dealing with this. The good news is there are some simple, natural options that many people find helpful.

Here are some remedies worth trying:

- Saltwater gargle — Dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water and gargle for up to 10 seconds before spitting it out
- Honey and lemon — A MyLupusTeam member shared this combo as a go-to soothing remedy
- Apple cider vinegar and honey — Another option some members swear by (though it's not for everyone!)
- Listerine gargles — Some members find this helps ease throat discomfort
- Stay hydrated — Avoid salty, acidic, or dry foods that can worsen dryness and irritation
- Alcohol-free mouthwash — Gentler on sensitive throat tissue than alcohol-based options If dryness is a big part of the problem, over-the-counter artificial saliva products (sprays, gels, or mouthwash) can also bring relief.

Since daily sore throats could signal a flare, an infection, or even a side effect of lupus medications, it's worth mentioning this to your rheumatologist. They can help pinpoint the cause and make sure nothing more needs attention.
