Finding the right moisturizer for lupus-related skin issues can take some trial and error, but there are some well-regarded options and ingredients to look for.
Dermatologists often recommend fragrance-free creams or ointments over regular lotions, as lotions can contain more water and potential irritants. Look for products containing these soothing ingredients:
- Dimethicone
- Glycerin
- Hyaluronic acid
- Jojoba oil
- Lactic acid
- Lanolin
- Mineral oil
- Petrolatum
- Shea butter Some MyLupusTeam members have shared what works for them. One member uses a shea butter soap to wash, followed by aloe vera gel, then a shea butter body cream, and finally a couple of drops of emu oil. Another member swears by Aveeno products, while others have found hydrocortisone cream helpful for irritated areas.
Before trying a new product, test it on a small patch of skin twice a day for 7โ10 days. If there's no redness, itching, or swelling, it's likely safe to use more broadly.
Always check with a dermatologist or healthcare provider for personalized recommendations, especially if the rash is persistent or worsening โ there may be prescription options that could help more effectively.

I use this dub lotion while itโs more like a hand cream. I keep it in all of my purses. It leaves your skin feeling soft and it smells good as well.
Hope this helps
