I get that sometimes too, likely stress and anxiety. However, if it happens again definitely speak with your dr. My rule is when in doubt, check it out!πŸ’œ

That racing, pounding heart feeling during a stressful appointment sounds really unsettling β€” and you're definitely not alone in experiencing it! What you're describing sounds like heart palpitations, which can feel like your heart is pounding, racing, or fluttering irregularly.

There are several things that can trigger this, especially for someone with lupus:

- Anxiety or stress β€” a long medical appointment can absolutely set this off
- Lupus medications like methotrexate or others that affect heart rhythm or blood pressure
- Dehydration β€” easy to forget water when you're nervous
- A lupus flare β€” palpitations can worsen when lupus symptoms are more active
- Caffeine or stimulants consumed beforehand A MyLupusTeam member shared a similar experience, noting palpitations during flares that felt alarming, and found that deep breathing and changing position helped in the moment.

It's worth mentioning this to your doctor or rheumatologist, especially since it lasted a full hour. They can check whether it's stress-related, medication-related, or connected to lupus activity.

Seek immediate care if palpitations come with:
- Chest pain or tightness
- Shortness of breath
- Passing out
