Thanks for the suggestion RaquelYorey, but that drug has too many negative side effects for me. And I don't have dry mouth, only dry eyes.
I did get a toothpaste from my dentist that will hopefully prevent decay. I only use it at bedtime because you can't eat or drink for 30 minutes after brushing. Still looking for something to help my gums tho.π
I would also check into Saligen.
research the providers in your area, let them know what you're in need of
Thanks Niranjana! I do both kind of flossing also. But I've never heard of oil-pulling. I recently moved to another state. I'll have to try to find a more lupus-knowledgeable dentist!
Our systemic inflammation makes us much more prone to dental/gum disease, Judy, and I also struggle with this. Sjogren's makes it even worse, as dry mouth promotes enamel loss, cavities, etc.
I found a dentist in my area trained in preventive dentistry, and she put me on an aggressive regimen that includes water flossing a couple of times a day, regular flossing, oil pulling (controversial, but it helps me), and other preventive measures. It has all helped tremendously, so I suggest reading your local dentists' profiles carefully. Good luck, and I feel your pain.π
