A double ear infection and pharyngitis. They put me on antibiotics (Z pack). I can not do my Benlysta shot or methotrexate on Monday right?

They should have an a service that takes messages for the doctors. I'd definitely call and leave a message for the service. One doctor should be on call for just such issues. I hope you feel better soon.

Wish they were open on the weekends. I just won’t take either of them until I can reach her.

That sounds really rough — a double ear infection AND pharyngitis at the same time is no fun at all. Hoping the Z-pack starts working quickly!

That sounds really rough — a double ear infection AND pharyngitis at the same time is no fun at all. Hoping the Z-pack starts working quickly!

This is a really important question, and the honest answer is: contact your rheumatologist before Monday. They need to make this call based on your full medical history and current situation. Here's why this matters so much with lupus specifically:

- Both Benlysta and methotrexate suppress your immune system
- You already have an active infection your body is fighting
- Taking immunosuppressive medications during an active infection can make it harder for your body to clear that infection
- Your rheumatologist may want to temporarily pause one or both medications until you've recovered

The urgent care provider may have already flagged this, but your rheumatologist is the most qualified person to advise you — they know your treatment plan and history best. When you call, be ready to share:

- Your current symptoms
- The antibiotics prescribed (Z-pack)
- All other medications you're taking
- Any drug allergies

Don't skip that call — getting guidance before Monday is really important here.
