Yes, I have found over my 41 years with lupus that any physiologic stress or change in my condition can trigger flare symptoms, Jo. I hope you're feeling better now.

Lupus flares can affect many parts of the body at once. Common flare symptoms include:

- Body aches and muscle pain
- Fatigue
- Stomach issues (including digestive upset)
- Joint and muscle inflammation Rotator cuff pain during a flare can be linked to muscle inflammation (myositis) or joint inflammation that lupus is known to cause. Shoulder pain is actually one of the more commonly reported areas affected.

With APS specifically, it's also worth being aware that circulation-related issues can sometimes contribute to pain and inflammation in the body. A MyLupusTeam member described their flares as starting with "fever, body aches, and severe fatigue" — which sounds very familiar to what was experienced here.

It's really important to flag these symptoms with your rheumatologist, particularly the 4 days of diarrhoea alongside the shoulder pain. They can assess whether this was a flare and whether any treatment adjustments are needed. Don't tough it out alone! 💙
