So I caught a bug, and I have been feeling exhausted all week, and today I told myself I have to get things done, so I pushed myself, thinking pushing will kick-start my energy somehow. Now after forcing myself and dragging my body around to do chores, I am, of course, more exhausted than ever. Why can't we just rest even if it's 7 days straight? I know recovery time for us takes a little longer when we catch something. It's just the feeling of being worthless part I have yet to conquer.

Members connected over the struggle of pushing through exhaustion with lupus, relating to the guilt and feeling of worthlessness that comes with needing extended rest after getting sick. Several members shared practical strategies like breaking chores into smaller tasks spread across multiple days, planning errands in compact ways, and learning to slow down on multi-tasking to avoid painful flares. A recurring theme was the need to unlearn old habits and societal pressure around productivity, with many encouraging one another to extend grace, listen to their bodies, and embrace self-love as warriors.

I think it has to do with how we are programmed to “think”. A lot of what we do is based on how we are viewed in society. Resting for a week comes off as seeming lazy or worthless, but in our NEW world it is normal. It’s harder than it seems to train our thoughts to know that it is okay to rest, it’s okay to sleep for 12+ hours. That it is okay to LISTEN to what our bodies need. The change in thought processes won’t happen overnight, but every step you take to make it okay to rest matters to you most . Self love is the best love ❤️

Honey it took 1 1/2 years for me to absorb one day at a time. I had to learn how to slow down with my errands and cleaning what would take 1 day to complete I push it out for 2-3 days
Kitchen and bathroom day 1
Living room and hallway day 2 or day3.
Walmart and fill gas tank day 1
Day 2 Home Depot and BJ’s
Doctors appt then home
I truly slow down on multi- tasking. Fatigue and Lupus is not to be played with. You got this 💕🥰slow it down and plan your moves in a compact way♥️

The dust is back all over the next day like I did NOTHING…. 🤬 I haven’t used my car for errands cause I need help carrying groceries etc & I have a fear of driving ( I hope it leaves soon)🙏🏼

It's hard to slow down. You know things got to be done and you can't just sit around and not do them cuz it drives you crazy. I know I work a lot in my house and outside and I do overdo it a lot so then I'm in a lot of pain. It's just hard to change. Hope you're all having a wonderful day big hugs
