I have had what I assume is a flare- have had 2 of these since diagnosis. Periods of extreme fatigue and pain that last several days. Fatigue is so bad I cannot get out of the bed. I am on plaquenil and methotrexate. I started on the methotrexate pills but these made me so sick (stomach) that we switched to the shots. I tolerate the shots much better but after reading some of these comments I'm not so sure I want to stay on the methotrexate. Any suggestions of options I should ask my doc… read more
I am looking into vitamin B shot for more energy , don't really no if they work, will let you no when I find out. I take my plaquenil 2 of them each morning, due to bad dreams so I don't like to take them later in the day. I exercise as much as I can, I by exercise I mean maybe small walks, swimming, nothing too exciting. As far as the pain I use anti inflammatories and on bad days take a oxeyneo , I know they are addictive but when really bad they do the job, not for everyone, but when I need to go or do something that is really important to me I will use them and do the job for a few hours, I do not abuse them, it is not a daily thing. Other wise I just add some advil to the bile . Good luck
I don't think I'd be able to walk if I didn't have my pain medicine. I really don't have nerve pain. My pain is muscular and skeletal. I take Opana 40 mg. twice a day and also Soma which helps me more than anything. I can take 3 soma a day. Have any of you tried that medication? Not only does my lupus bother me but I also have herniated discs in my neck and have been thru two knee replacements in the last 3 years. I guess I'm just a hot mess. Lol. For those of you with nerve pain....have you tried Lyrica?
I have refused the Methotrexate only because my best friend is on it. I give her the weekly shot and she feels horrible for 3 days after she takes it. She had nausea, vomiting, weakness, no energy. That's something that I just can't deal with. I just take the Plaquenil and my doctor has me on three different pain medicines. Without my pain meds, I just can't function. Are you taking anything for the pain?
I split my plaquenil - one in the morning, one at night. I don't think it's a problem. My doc says that because I had breast cancer, I'm limited on other drugs I can take - methotrexate is one of the few that I can take. He said these periods of extreme fatigue are part of the disease and sometimes I just have to give in.
I take Imuran instead of methotrexate. I haven't had any nausea or increased fatigue from it. Could be worth a try, but meds effect everyone differently.
