I used to work 32 hr weekends and take call at the hospital the other five days, but I was working myself to death. My dr said I could keep working and never see my kids grow into adults or I could stop and watch my grandkids grow up. I made the choice and I now have 16 beautiful grandkids. Some things are worth the financial sacrifice and it was, I was so broke all the time but God always provided for us during the hard times.

I'm no longer in the classroom but still in the field of education. Happy I can still manage to maintain a full time job scared about not being to work much longer. 6 years away from being eligible for retirement & moving south to be able to afford to live on retirement without having to work to make ends meet. The Lupus is simply worse as I get older. Taking it one day at a time.

I work full time and on call 4 nights a week. It is a physical job but I do get breaks when I have paperwork to do. I took a transfer to a different site with more staff to accommodate my sick days. I thank God everyday I have a secure job with benefits as I know not everyone does. Last year was especially hard as my bf was doing chemo and I was his caregiver. I figure if I got thru that while I was in a bad flare, then I can get thru the daily grind.

I'm a full time teacher and mother AND my mom lives with me. There are days I'll go in the bathroom and fall asleep on the toilet! I love teaching, and can't imagine NOT teaching, but there are days that I can barely hobble out of the building. People at work know, but I don't use it as en excuse. Mostly I just grin an bear it. I honestly don't think disability pays enough for a person to live on it. That's a tough call.
