My rheumatologist switched practices. She was actually an associate. I am now seeing the senior doctor of the practice. She wants to take me off Methotrexate and try Imuran. The reasons given are due to hair loss and chronic swelling, let's try something different. Overall the Methotrexate helped me, I can move around like a normal person, almost. What do y'all think? Any words of wisdom are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm on both. I was taking prednisone Plaquinel and methotrexate (injection) and still in a lot of pain in January. Could barely or stand or do anything really. So I reluctantly started Imuran too. In about 3 weeks I started feeling better and now an garden and play with my little Granddaughters.
I had some diarrhea and lost my appetite at first but went away in a few weeks. Now hoping to stop prednisone and cut back on metheltraxate.
I really hate taking all these meds😥

I wish the meds does not have secondary effect, but it does, I think we have to just pray to not get those sides effects.

I'm taking rituxan, plaquenil and imuran, they all help me to go everyday. Sometimes I'm so stressed out for all the meds I take, but I don't have any choice, if i dont take them is a nightmare for me.

Please watch your skin carefully when taking Imuran. I was on Imuran for about 9 months and my husband noticed a weird mole on my shoulder. I went to my Dr, who referred me to a dermatologist oncologist and it was discovered I had 4 near cancerous moles. The dr did a very thorough mapping of my skin and the procedures to remove and treat the spots took nearly a year. It was quite the ordeal. Be very vigilant.

TracyHenson I'm only on 50 mg Imuran a day. 600 is a lot! I take 5 mg Prednisone daily.
I know what you mean though as I have hard time with higher does prednisone. I used to do jigsaw puzzles on my tablet and it helped me focus and settle my mind .You could also try adult coloring books. Sleep aid was a must as so wired.
