Are florescent light bulbs bad for my rash?

Yes, you can most definitely be sensitive to fluorescent lighting, as are many with lupus. If you are SS-A positive, it is my understanding, that is a good indication of even more increased UV sensitivity. I have a problem from light that filters in from windows that are not coated with UV protectant, both standard and car type windows, etc.... It sounds extreme, but it can be a real problem. The same with light bulbs in homes, work places, businesses, doctors offices, etc... if they are fluorescent it can cause a flare up, rash, and so on.

If you have photosensitivity, the UV rays in fluorescent lighting can trigger flares and aggregate rashes. Wear sunblock and avoid prolonged exposure.

If I am not doing well, having even a minor flare or somehow got too much sun florescent lights do a number on me. I see this most clearly if I need to do some shopping. Even after coming out of 6 mos of hell, I find I can only tolerate very short trips, I start petering out in the store.

Absolutely. Notice how you feel at stores with lots of florescent, target, Walmart etc. On certain days I have to wear my sunglasses inside the stores.
