Winter Haven, FL

I would like to know how one would go about in starting an organization that would help people with Lupus get the proper care, provide financial assistance for those who can not afford proper care , housing, caring for their pets, children and every other thing that one would usually be in charge of if they were healthy and physically able to do so. Please chime in.

Awesome idea! I would check with the Lupus Foundation or Community Actions Non profit Organization, that have help in People trying to start a business.

If you are in the United States you have to become an incorporated non profit in your state complete with by laws and a board of directors. If you are going to give direct support people, you have to explain your criteria. You can work at just the state level. If you want to work at the national or international level there is additional paperwork and licensing. When you consider that 250 mg of Cellcept is well over $500 a month, for example, you would need quite a lot of money to make a significant difference. Google "How to start a 501c3 corporation" for details.
