What side effects do methotrexate cause you?
I get really cold an horrible weakness to the point I can't lift my arms for the first 24 hours. Now I also have chest pain right between my breast when I breath. It feels more like tightness an raw after you have a coughing fit for a few days.
I was put onto this drug after I had a severe reaction to Nivaquine, and I really can sympathise with you, I don't know which is worse, I suffer constantly from Pleurisy, Pneumonia and have just come out of hospital the specialist informs me 'it is like being caught between a rock and a hard place' Really a no win situation, but I still take each day as it comes, and just do what I can when I feel up to it, but what I really find difficult is to get the inclination to start doing something. If I want I just spend the day in bed to recuperate, but I think age is also a big factor, I am 76 years old and the Specialist is inclined to believe that my Lupus has been with me for years, but I just thought it was an occupational hazard of my job which I had done for the last 50 years, Silkscreening and signwriting and the inks and paints used for it, so I never bothered to go to a Doctor until 2014 when I was diagnosed. Just be positive and do what you feel up to each day. Go well Ruth Sykes
Sounds like you have pleurisy.
Methotrexate was hard on me. Mainly eye and oral lesions, increased fatigue, nausea, And feeling like crap. I had to figure out. Hello it's a chemo pill basically. People get cancer and understand chemo and how many rounds you have. Well with autoimmune you are on chemo pills and you really don't have 2 or 3 more treatments. I'm a nurse struggling through this "new normal" and I just "got it"~that lesson anyway.
It caused my hair to thin and fall out!!!
I was taking methotrexate 1-2 yrs ago...orally, the pills made me really nauseated, so the dr put me on an injection every week..after about 1 year of this, I told my rheumy dr that I needed to stop it!!!!! re the hair loss and/or thinning..I had thinning, but remember that's also a lupus complication...am also a nurse struggling with all this...please check with your dr....sending hugs
It made me horribly weak, vomiting, kidney pain, wicked headaches and I lost a lot of weight, not in a good way. Stopped taking it because it was doing more harm than good for me.
