Thank you! I hadn't heard of him.
I don't know if I was clear, but the supplement I take combines both turmeric and frankincense. Turmeric alone did not help me.
I take it in pill form, and I order it online from Swanson Vitamins. Very cheap. Frankincense has a distinct scent, so I think these supplements are legit.
I understand how eating can affect how you feel. We stopped eating food with preservatives several years ago, and I'm amazed at how badly we feel when we eat out too much. I think I've even developed an allergy to commercially made bread because a lot of times I wheeze when I eat it (like pizza dough, sandwiches, etc.) That also happens when I eat oatmeal, of all things. I found out that oatmeal, like grains that contain gluten, contain phytic acid, which affects the gut (I think.) Crazy how sensitive we can become. I was not like this before lupus. It was one of the first things that happened that made me suspect my immune system was going haywire.
I'm sorry you are having such a tough time. It's never easy to let go of or adjust your dreams. I think my worst years were the first 2-3 after diagnosis. I didn't get any relief from severe symptoms (although I'm very thankful that nothing major was wrong; no kidney issues, just the usual pain and muscle weakness, etc.)
As you know with lupus (and its other co-existing conditions,) there's always something going on. But I want to encourage you that it's most likely that you will have some periods of relief, and hopefully soon.
I don't know if you are willing to try natural therapies, but I have found a good bit of relief in general pain (and hand and feet joint pain) from taking a combination supplement of turmeric and frankincense. I had stopped taking it about a month ago because I suspected it was bothering my stomach, and all of that horrible pain came back. I started taking it 1-2 weeks ago, and it's subsiding. I have tried stopping and starting several times and the result is the same, so I really do believe in it.
