Anyone had issues with their liver die to lupus? My latest bloodwork showed significant changes in my liver enzymes. I have to do more tests to see if the lupus is attacking my liver
Autoimmune hepatitis is different than viral like hep c. Lupus autoantibodies are attacking liver cells. All drugs and alcohol are detoxed in your liver and kidney so multiple medications can damage your liver. They did more bloodwork so I should find out more soon.
I also have elevated liver tests. Dr wants liver biopsy. Has anyone else been through this? Would love to know which approach your dr chose ( transjugular or percutaneous ) & how you felt after.
Pammie, autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and lupus hepatitis are caused because of or in conjunction with SLE. From what I have found through research AIH is curable with high dose steroids and immunosuppressants.
I flare up straight away, eating certain foods. Am running out of ideas, as the lupus and swelling cause great discomfort and nausea
I also have had high liver tests. Just had liver biopsy and it was found to be drug induced hepatitis. Seems a lot of meds can affect your liver. Now have to have liver tests run periodically when trying new meds. Hope you find the cause. Dr will probably have you get a biopsy. Wasn't that bad at all. Good luck to you. This disease is so frustrating. 😡
