I know this question has been asked before, so plz bear with me. I want a fresh perspective. Im in a flare-up ugh! I get horribly hot and i sweat continually. When i take my temp it is only about 98.5 and it feels like 104... I feel so lifeless and hot. Does anyone else have this issue? My butterfly rash is also on my face. Ugh! Thank you in advance :~
Over heating is a part of this lovely disease,doing simple things can cause you to sweat and feel very fatigued.If your in a flare it makes it worse and your body is attacking you and taking all your energy. Speak with your Dr as some meds can cause us to sweat as well,Healing prayers.Hugs&Blessings.
@A MyLupusTeam Member,
Research is showing that we can inherit the predisposition for diseases like lupus. Not everyone with the genetics predisposition gets it. Expression of lupus also requires an extrinsic factor to activate that/those genes. Epstein Barr and Parvovirus appear to fall into that basket of extrinsic factors. On the positive side, knowing that some extrinsic factor can turn a gene on also means that there is a way to turn them off. DNA methylation via Epigenetics is a promising real cures for lupus, just as stem cell treatment and genetic engineering.

I also get very hot and sweat a lot, even if I am not in a flare; I also have fibromyalgia and was told that both lupus and fibro and the meds we take can all contribute to being hot and sweating. By the way, I have also heard that Epstein Barr has been implicated in the later development of lupus and other autoimmune conditions. For me, it was a human Parvovirus B19 infection that was the catalyst to my eventual lupus diagnosis. Human Parvovirus B19 is different than the type of Parvovirus that dogs get. Human Parvovirus B19 is the virus that causes Fifth's disease in young children; evidently, when you get it as an adult, you experience joint swelling, warmth, and intense pain. The medical community will tell you that is a self-limited diagnosis, meaning that after several weeks it will resolve and not cause any problems in the future. I call "bull" on that way of thinking; this infection turned my life upside down! I have not felt "right" since I contracted the virus. It has cost me my overall health, my job, and my quality of life.
@A MyLupusTeam Member,
I run "hot" too, especially at night. My temperature is almost never elevated. I see my specialist every 3-6 months and have asked about it. I've yet to get a satisfactory answer.
My blood work and physical rule out nasty stuff like leukemia, lymphoma, kidney cancer, infections and so on. Be sure your doctor checks all these bad things, as they may be a cause of fevers too. Also, things like celiac disease, hormonal changes, etc. have to be considered.
I'm attaching a very unscientific article for you. It covers more than I just did.
Be well,
Tom

Yes this does happen very often, try to stay away from heat and enjoy the water to cool down.
