Hello everyone..I hope this question finds you all having a good day
My question is this...I was just told I'm 90% Adrenal Insufficient (no surprise because of prednisone) endocrinologist did testing and came back that way but she is still doing a saliva and 24hr urine too..Anyway my question is i was just wondering if anyone here has had this diagnosis too??!! I'M DESPERATELY SEEKING SOMEONE THAT CAN TELL ME THEY HAVE, only so I know what to expect and someone else that understands this… read more
Yeah hope everything is okay with you nikib take care. :)
The test is acth test for @A MyLupusTeam Member and @A MyLupusTeam Member checking how your adrenal glands are working ...it's more then likely because of the prednisone but they are testing me more..and yes it's kinda related to the lupus I guess
Not that I can recall do they think you may have hypocortisolism (Addison's disease) ? @A MyLupusTeam Member
I was just diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency after 29 years of SLE; using the Stim. test which came out very abnormal. They put me on a regimen of hydrocortisone; take two pills of 10 mg. each when I awaken and one more at 4 p.m. I was diagnosed with the Stim. test by my immunologist; he immediately called me personally as adrenal crisis can happen and is very serious; I see the endocrinologist at the end of Sept. I did NOT realize how "dead" I was feeling, til I began this new medicine which is actually giving me more energy. At first, the Stim. test caused my blood pressure (which is usually normal) to shoot up to 204/102 along with extreme chest pain. I read the adrenals regulate blood pressure, so that response makes sense. My blood pressure has been back to normal after being on the hydrocortisone for three days. So, still new at this diagnosis, but it does make sense after being on and off of prednisone for 29 years; also using immunosuppressants as well. I did a bunch of reading about adrenal insufficiency and it is complex; involving other glands such as the pituitary and also parathyroid. I'm not sure if my adrenals can ever return to functioning.
Update to you all...I do have secondary adrenal insufficiency :( they added 1mg of prednisone and have to have an emergency injectable just in case ...I'm disappointed it turned out this way but it's not a surprise ..
