Hi all, I am very newly diagnosed with Lupus. I took my dogs to the park today and the sun came out. I feel so drained and weak now and my eyes ache and feel super sensitive. I am just learning that Lupus makes you sensitive to sunlight. I also notice I am very sensitive to the lights inside of stores and malls. My questions are

Sunglasses at all times , lubricanting eye drops , spf 50 only ( waterproof) Lancôme cosmetics and Clarons cosmetics are the very best !! Organic spray tan works for me !! Long loose gauze shirts and light weight clothing ! Straw hats that are not made with synthetic imatations of straw 👑🌹🦋 early am and late afternoons are best for going out doors !! Yes it's a huge adjustment and life changing experience for sure !! But for me it works if you work it one second at a time !! It's an optimistic and positive point of view concerning your health that matters ! We deserve to take care of ourselves at all cost !! Hugs and love ❤️

The reason we need to stay out of the sun is because it (the sun) causes an immune system reaction, the Melanin activating in our skin. Anytime our immune systems are engaged we risk a flare.

Thanks for answering! I just ordered some clothes too. Some sundresses from cooliobar and some mens lightweight hoodies. The mens uv clothing is much less expensive.

There are also more and more clothing stores that have SPF clothing. Try outdoor/sports stores such as Mountain Equipment Coop (Canada). I have seen SPF 50 clothing at MEC. You can buy these clothes online.
