My finger nails have always been weak and had a tendency to tear from the sides if my hair got under them, like when washing my hair but about 3 months ago they have started peeling back in layers and becoming unattached to the nail bed slightly. My doctor didn't seem concerned and suggested that I take biotin so far I haven't noticed any improvement. I get to the point where all the nails on one hand are long enough to paint to help protect them while the get strong again and one or more peel, split or tear again. So I am plugging along with the biotin hoping that it will kick in & help soon!
