None of my doctors mentioned this food sensitivity panel of course! It was a co-worker. I asked my ND to get it done. Mine is the FoodStats Antibody Assessment by US BioTek Laboratories. If your MD won't do it then get a referral to a Nutritionist and they will do it and monitor/counsel you through the results. So yes you need to ask and advocate for yourself!!
@A MyLupusTeam Member the AIP protocol may take a few months to feel all effects. Don’t let it be boring. Be creative with the food. You will feel so much better and less inflammation can mean no flare. Wishing you the best.
@Stm252-I started feeling a little better in just a few weeks. When I got tested and found out what I was sensitive to and then stopped those foods, I felt even better. For instance, my skin itched for years. As soon as I stopped drinking coffee, the itching stopped.
When I do have something to eat that I shouldn’t, I can sometimes tell in just a few hours. If I eat potatoes my elbows and finger joints start to hurt in about 4 to 6 hours. The thing to think about though is some things you may not have any symptoms but is is wreaking havoc on the inside.
Blood test -Food Sensitivity test measures your body's IgG immune response to 96 foods that are commonly found in western diets. An improvement in food sensitivity symptoms after eliminating the triggering food source is always the best test.
"food sensitivity tests help to identify the cause of the food sensitivities: LEAKY GUT. And addressing leaky gut is essential to helping health issues resolve. You see, when the body reacts to foods, it is due to a condition called LEAKY GUT, which is caused by a number of things, including gluten, stress, pesticides, and prescription medications. The leakiness of the gut lining allows particles of food to leak through the gut wall (between the cells) and to trigger the immune system which is why food reactions exist in the first place.
It also explains why you react to some favorite foods. Because I was eating my favorite foods most often, my immune system “saw” them more consistently and therefore developed an antibody response to “protect” me against them. This response then leads to more damage to the intestinal lining and more severe leaky gut." this causes inflammation over time.
It makes viruses more likely to cause more inflammation too. Epstein Barr virus (EBV), HPV, HSV, CMV (and others) are all known to become active when either you or your body is stressed (and inflamed). And leaky gut is not only caused by stress, but it qualifies as a huge stress in itself. which I did test positive for as well (EBV and HPPV6)
I know work with a nutritionist to help me supplement eggs/yeast with other options so I can still enjoy the foods I love (just in a different way now). hope that helps
