AV in the hip
@A MyLupusTeam Member Thank you for your support pt was painful but in the end it helped strengthen the muscles around my knee which relieved some pain but since the gel shot wore off I haven't been able to continue my pt so with the pt and gel shot combo I have no pain. The gel shots from what my ortho told me it's made from the comb of the chicken which helps cushion said joint it's a natural substance found a lot in the joints you get 1 shot every 6 months it can be used in the shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.I actually just found a foundation that will pay for stem cells shots for veterans I just started the paperwork see if I qualify for it
@A MyLupusTeam Member not yet I'm trying to postpone that for as long as I can I did pt and now I'm doing synvisc gel shots which helps greatly I actually have my next shot in 3 weeks I can't wait because I'm hurting
I believe my procedure will be covered by insurance. I see you live in Colorado. I am having my procedure (if I get clearance) in a few weeks. I am 57 years old so I have been told that my stem cells are less than someone in their 20-30s. My right hip also has a slight collapse so he could not give me guarantee. They can do both hips at the same time but we are doing one first and hopefully the next hip in 6 months. Then there is my left knee to. The thoughts of having 3 joints replaced just does not sit well with me because of this lupus diagnosis with a low WBC count. I had consult with Regenexx as well and they recommended I go to Cayman Islands but like you said that is not covered and I worry about leaving the states to undergo procedure and the process of getting back home...plus the cost would be well over $30,000. So I am opting for New York. You may want to contact NYU Langone. Don't know what insurance you have but they participate with many insurances. The Dr. that has been working with stem cells there is Dr. Einhorn.
I will keep you in my prayers... and thanks for your service to our country!
@A MyLupusTeam Member okay thanks so much
@A MyLupusTeam Member how is the physical therapy working out? And could you tell me more about the gel shots
