1 leg only and exhausted after for days. What is this? I have no diagnosis... they just say we don’t know tests come back okay.
Yes, I have this exact rash "under the skin" also! I get it after being in sun about 10-15min. I can sit in car with one leg in sun (window down) and other not and get the rash on just the "sunned" leg! I looked it up and yes, livedo reticularis.
Interesting tho that I have had this since I was a kid and i am 45 yrs old!! I always just thought it meant I was starting to sunburn and it meant time for sunscreen!
I was just diagnosed w lupus a couple weeks ago and I am definitely photosensitive this year. Where previously I've always loved the sun but haven't been able to be out in hot sun - like 90* for a couple years now.
Thank u for sharing your picture. I will add you to my team, I hope thats ok?!
That is exactly what happened to me a couple weeks ago and again just this weekend! Tho I had it all over my back
Mine was from the sun.
I don’t know how long this had been happening to me, I only noticed because I made a point of checking for any photosensitive rashes now that I know I have autoimmune diseases
Google Liverdo Reticularis
I am seeing a vascular specialist tomorrow/today in the afternoon. We’re going to discuss my swelling and these rashes. I will share what I learn
But yes. Your rash would likely be considered a sign of photosensitivity, one of the criteria for diagnosing Lupus. It can exist with or without Lupus but often goes hand in hand. It is a vascular issue...caused by constricting and dialating bloodvessels under the skin. I notice I get this same pattern on the palms of my hands and tips of my fingers at times too
It is your body's reaction to the sun ☀️and probably being over 🔥heated, I get it too! Cooling yourself down will help and after awhile it goes away!
It’s a long road for most lupus patients. I think the average amount of time it takes to get a diagnosis is 6 years 😳 Its shameful
I credit this website for speeding up the process for me significantly! Tho I suffered from it most of my life I didn’t have insurance or medical care, so it went untreated for decades. I got so sick that it became urgent so I begged, borrowed and prayed and got insurance this year in January. The plan was to rush to a diagnosis before the year was out and my insurance was gone
The few things I learned here that made a huge difference:
Demand you’re treated with respect and your concerns are taken seriously. If they are not, get a new doctor
Make sure you get an ANA test and complete blood counts done. ANA is your ticket to moving forward with a diagnosis. If negative, a doctor might likely dismiss autoimmune problems. If it’s positive, further testing is usually ordered...and should be ordered!
Blood work and labs results fluctuate daily and can swing wildly. If your ANA is negative, try to get it done again when you next feel unwell or have a rash.
Some drs go strictly by lab results and don’t take symptoms into account. Lupus is so hard to diagnose because labs can change all the time and evidence might not be caught. This is why symptoms are so important to consider. If possible, find a doctor who listens and takes symptoms as seriously as lab results
If your primary doctor won’t run the tests for you ask for a referral to a rheumatologist and have them run the ANA and other labs
Take photos of everything and keep a journal of symptoms and track your health day to day
Don’t be afraid to tell your doctor you suspect you have an autoimmune issue and worry it could be Lupus or a similiar disease. Tell them you’d like testing. If they’re claiming they don’t know what’s causing your problems, point them in the right direction
And lastly. Don’t give up! Be your own advocate and fight for your health!
I saw 2 rheumatologists this year, both wanted to move at a snails pace. I was too crippled and was working to beat the clock. I got a 3rd opinion and in one visit he decided I needed medication ASAP! I can’t tell you how thankful I am that I forced the issue, got the testing I needed and am now on meds
Good luck 💗
Hey guys I’m 48 and snap with the rashes! Just been diagnosed after years of huffing and puffing between doctors. I hope the Hydroxychloroquine starts to help. I only have to see sun and I go mottled all over!
