I went to the doctor with noticeable swelling in several joints, fatigue, butterfly rash and positive ANA. However my bloodwork comes back normal. Why is this????
Because it happens. My rheumatologist told me 25 yrs ago, you know your body so go on that. You can have false negatives. So you fight for what you think. ❤️🦋🥰🦋
"Normal" What's normal for one may not be normal for someone else. They must get to know your normal... And yes. My blood could be good but I can still have aches and pains. Etc
I am the same way. I had been experiencing severe joint and bone pain for over 2 years and was ignored by my dr until I was in the ER unable to walk bc the pain was so bad.
I switched docs, explained my joint pain, the ER visit, the fatigue, dizziness, memory issues, brain just felt fuzzy...random rashes on arms and chest, severe dry eyes, etc...he immediately sent me for blood work and believed it was autoimmune. Positove ANA with speckled pattern. All else normal.
Sent me to Rheumo in Oct, new blood work, ANA neg and everything else normal. But she said I had all the symptoms and text book lupus. Called it False-Negative Lupus and my primary said the same valling it "sero-negative lupus". Some have symptoms but blood work is negative for it but that usually somewhere down the line it will begin to show positive.
I was put on Plaquinel and intitially Prednisone. Now its just Plaquinel which has helped a great deal. I have more blood work to do this week to continue ruling out anything else but both Primary and Rheumo are convinced it is Lupus.
Yes, this has been my story since day 1 (October 2018). My labs were borderline positive for lupus. ANA positive w/ low titer. dsDNA one point over the threshold making it positive. Second set of labs = low positive ANA and negative dsDNA. Most recent labs = intermediate dsDNA ans positive ANA. All other labs are normal. Rheumy suggesting early lupus or lupus-like disease. I am on plaquenil and I believe it is really helping with my symptoms. Hope the labs stay this way as organ involvement is unlikely.
My latest bloodwork came back normal which my rheumy attributed to ll my meds doing their job to keep lupus at bay. Having said that, I still get really achy, fatigue, migraines among other things. It’s mind boggling.
