I am trying to think of all the "used-to's" so that I can paint a precise picture for my new rheumy...for me it is simple things like mowing the lawn, going up stairs.....

Linda,
Unfortunately, no. Dr's do not understand, but act like they do. I know that weight can cause an array of complications in ones body. It's hard on ones bones, feet & being over weight can cause heart problems, breathing.
Google good diets to help you loose weight, get some exercise.
One step at a time. There is no cure for us, but remission is not unheard of.

Walnuts (one hand full per day) is excellent. Lentil soup, Legume (beans), Trout, garlic, asparagus, Oatmeal, avocado, strawberries, apples, Psyllium (which is a seed), are very good for us, will help with cholesterol.
There is nothing good about pizza except for the tomato sauce.
Fast food is probably the worst thing one can do. There is nothing good
about fast food, nothing. I remember one gal that used to be in here, she would say her hubby took her out to breakfast every morning, what a great hubby she had. Then I found out all those breakfasts were at Jack in the Box!!! Yet she wants to know why she is over weight & has flares.
We are what we eat.
God bless you in finding healthy food, that can ultimately get rid of extra pounds & help you understand how important a good diet is in having illnesses.

I forgot to mention that something as simple as taking a shower and getting dressed can sometimes be a real challenge for me. It sometimes hurts to lift my arms above my head or bend down to tie my shoes. Good luck with your new rheumy, @A MyLupusTeam Member! Hope you have better, less painful days soon!

SING. I met my husband in a band 21 years ago. I was the lead singer. He was the rhythm guitarist. Since lupus, I have chronic swelling all over my body, including my vocal cords. This greatly affects my singing voice. Somehow I've lost part of who I am. It's very difficult. Most days I've come to terms with it, but some days it still makes me cry. Peace, katcove

My specialist told me to push and push more because as soon as we stop doing things we stop trying I work 10hrs a day in the building trade and it hurts like hell and I would love nothing more than lying in bed and relax
But I push as hard as I can and sometimes drive home in tears
Don’t give in one life so live it as we’re a long time dead
