I just had my yearly physical and blood work done and we found a severe Vitamin D deficiency

Normal is 30-100ng/ml and I was 11ng. From everything I’ve read this points to severe deficiency since under 20ng is considered deficient and under 12ng is considered extreme

Problem is I can’t really find much of anything helpful about it and none of the causes seem to apply. I eat a lot of dairy. A LOT. It can’t be because of diet. I get enough sun that I shouldn’t be *this* low. My skin isn’t dark… read more

I'm on the same thing my vitamin D has always been low just have a hard time absorbing vitamin D I suppose I do know that it's important though. You should speak with your rheumatologist about it for a better explanation

Hi and yes Lupus can be the caused of Vitamin D deficiency. I myself have Vitamin D deficiency at times and have to be prescribed 50,000 2x a week. Even if you're eating enough diary, plenty of 🌞, or taking vitamins it's the Lupus causing the Vitamin D deficiency from what my rheumatologist doctor has told me.

I tried doing a search on the site here but the search function doesn’t work very well. I pulled up hundreds of results and not a one of them even mentioned Vitamin D 😔 So unfortunately I can’t find past questions and answers that might help

Maybe the admin of the site here will see this and look into the issue or make a suggestion on how to better perform a search

@A MyLupusTeam Member Yes. That’s the 3rd diuretic they’ve given me. It does nothing 😔 It’s the least effective of all of them

Lasix works to a limited degree. Sometimes it’ll make me go a few times during an afternoon and sometimes it triggers nothing. Which I scary

But it gives me terrible cramps and sometimes a headache so I can’t take it more than 1 day
