Anyone here have hypermobility? I was told several years ago that I am hypermobile and went to physical therapy for awhile to help with tight hamstrings. I am now having a lot of hip/SI joint pain as well as pelvic pain. My hips are widening and falling to the side. I feel like a raw turkey whose legs need to be toothpicked before being cooked? Just wondering if anyone has experienced this, my rheumy said people with hypermobility are more prone to joint and arthritis pain. Thanks in advance for… read more

Yes, I have hypermobility, with very tight hamstrings too, physical therapy helped me allot. Do you continue the exercises for it? I have to do exercises and stretches every other day, it is the only thing that helps, especially with the hips. Maybe your doctor can get you back into therapy for a couple weeks and they can teach you some things that you can do at home! It's totally worth it!

Any chance you have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome too? It is a genetic collagen deficiency. My rheum sees me for both
EDS and lupus. Hypermobility can be a major symptom.

Thanks for posting your question Calli and I'm glad others could tell you new questions to pose. EDS is definitely something to pursue. 'Wonder if taking collagen would help? Sorry you are in pain, Calli and having these issues. You're still so young...Surely don't want your to suffer from dislocations so I hope your doc and therapist can help.

Recommend PT with a sports medicine clinic, many work with pro athlletes. Their PT approach is very different. Their approach is quickly easing years of hip and pelvic pain, back pain and muscle imbalances that have contributed. Most of them also recommend yoga/t’ai chi.

After a month of classes I personally recommend Yoga🧘‍♀️ (Relax and Restore). Body felt better after first class! After 1 month of yoga and couple weeks of PT I am making meaningful progress in strength, flexibility, balance and pain management.
I’m new to gentle yoga but over the moon regarding how helpful it has been. Hope you will watch on YouTube and try it. Let me know if you would like a video recommendation.
