I’m newly diagnosed. In addition to MCTD I have this terrible summer cold that won’t go away! It’s been lingering around for almost 3 weeks. I haven’t gone to the doc for meds, I usually let cold fix themselves. But I’m wondering, is this because of the disease that my body can’t fight a normal cold now, or is it just a really bad cold? Anyone else?

Our immune systems are compromised, so it takes us a lot longer to heal. Hang in there.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll do the ginger tea with Honey next time. I was taking Sudafed, Musinex, DayQuils and NightQuil. Obviously not all at the same time but taking one for a couple days with no help and then moved on to something else. I’m just now feeling an upswing!

I normally pump myself up with a lot of vitamin C, ricola w/ echinacea, ginger tea, lemon tea w/honey or I’ll make a spicy ginger tea especially to soothe my throat. I’ve noticed over the years medicine make my cold worse.

That cold may have morphed into something else. Go to the doctor just to be sure. It use to happen to me every single time. Now, I just try my best not to get a cold or flu ESPECIALLY since I'm allergic to the vaccine and can't take it.
