Have had all kinds of problems since May. Skin rashes, joint (swelling) and muscle pain, weakness and numbness on my left side, weak muscles, 2 months of not being able (physically) to focus my eyes and enormous fatigue. I had fevers in the first month and after that sometimes for just an hour. Felt sick all the time. Problems eating and digesting. Also had a bout of, what I think, heart problems and pain around my organs. Tremendous muscle aches that came out of nowhere (the muscles in my… read more

Well here goes my rant. Lol. I find it hard to believe that every individual falls into some range, positive, negative, highs lows,,,ect. The more you read different static’s and trials the more you see more conflicting supposed answers. And you are left with more questions! Lol. An two hours later your still reading. Ughhh the more doctors the more opinions and presumptions. Maybe they shouldn’t google! Now, I’m talking with the autoimmune experience of mine. I think it’s tricky and agree it’s a path with a lot of potholes. But I can say your heart, soul and mind will guide. No medical experience needed knowing your body. Things will eventually come to surface for all til then hang in there and be strong trust your intuition. Keep searching find a doctor that fits you. That’s important. And keep reading on here you will see such similar experiences like ours. And you got a question ask the professionals,,,,,,,,,,, everyone here! I am speaking for everyone,,,,,,we, including you have plenty of experience. I don’t know about you but I never seen a doc, a tech, any of my friends, ect with the autoimmune true struggle.
So take care and good luck it will work out I’m early in diagnosis and I can see some light 💡. Lol. Have a good night.

We would need to see what the lab ranges are for the blood tests

Antidsdna at 0.5 looks odd. Usually positive is 10 and over for the most common lab range

And the same with the C3 and C4 We would need to see what the lab considers normal

The ANA at 1:80 is the baseline for positive. The rheumatologists I had seen weren’t concerned by a 1:80 ana. When it got to 1:320 it was confirmed as an autoimmune illness and I was given medication. ANA does tend to go up and down tho. Hypothyroid and other illness can give low Positive ANA results which is why rheumatologists don’t get too alarmed unless there are other labs or symptoms to back it up

Google the 11 criteria for Lupus. They usually don’t include the fine print within the list but it is a good place to start. You need a certain amount of these criteria to be met to be diagnosed. Some Drs will treat with 4 or more criteria, others want 6 or 7. It varies with each dr judgment.

But just remember there are specifics to the criteria as well. For instance, your platelets can be low but for it to meet the lupus criteria, they have to be under 100,000 even tho they are clinically low at 150,000. Same with lung problems or kidney problems. You might have both but need a very specific type of lung problem for it to meet the criteria

Photo won’t upload, I’ll try again later :(

Summary comes down to:
ANA 1:80, positive, mitotic centrosome and nuclear speckled.
AntiDS dna positive <0.5 (reference range >10) and all the other ‘Antis’ were negative.

Reference rance for abs baso’s was
0.04-0.20 and mine was 0.02.

Protein reference range was 60-80, mine was 81.

C3 reference range 0.9-1.8
mine was 1.24

C4 reference range 0.1-0.4 mine 0.14.

IgG reference 8-16
mine is 15

This sums it up, I think :)

Here’s a picture of the results, including a reference range (in Dutch, but I’m sure ‘negatief’ isn’t hard to understand ;)

Pattern came back as:
mitotic centrosome
&
nuclear speckled.
(hope I translated that correctly...)

What strikes me as odd is the AntiDS dna being mentioned as positive whilst it is so low...
Because all the other ‘antis’ are negative, period.

Thanks for really taking me seriously, means a lot!!!

@A MyLupusTeam Member, whether your results are printed or online it should have the reference ranges along with your result. It should be easy to find. The range tells you the cutoff for what is negative and what’s considered positive.

You mention the range for the DsDNA is 10? Do you mean positive is 10 and over? That’s a common for range for the test. In that case .5 would be very low and not considered a positive result.

Now if the threshold were 10 and you tested at 8? I’d be willing to bet there are days you would test positive. Doctors need to have official records of a positive result tho. I’ve had one certain antibody test that’s specific for Lupus that attacks the Kidneys. I tested at 19 and positive is 20 🙄 This is a very specific antibody which would not only confirm a Lupus diagnosis but be a huge warning that it’s going to damage my kidneys! But the lab and doctor considered my test negative. Seems obvious to me if my blood where drawn a day before or after it would have indeed been positive. It gets very frustrating!

Anyway...If you can include the test reference scale in your post we can discuss your results knowing what’s out of range and by how much 😊

You can even post screenshots or a photo of the results, just be sure to block out private info
