Skin sensitivity is a common symptom among people with lupus. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Photosensitivity: About half of people with lupus are sensitive to light, including both sunlight and artificial UV light. This can cause rashes, flushing, or sunburn-like reactions.
- Types of Cutaneous Lupus: Several forms, such as subacute CLE, discoid lupus, and lupus erythematosus tumidus, can cause photosensitivity.
- Symptoms: These may include rashes, ulcers around the nose or mouth, itching, burning, and a bruised feeling.
- Management Tips:
- Wear wide-brimmed hats, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants made with sun-protectant fabrics.
- Use sun-blocking shades or drapes indoors.
- Cover fluorescent light bulbs with light shields or use low-UV lights like LEDs.
- For mouth ulcers, doctors may prescribe special mouthwash or toothpaste, and for nose ulcers, steroid nasal sprays.

Yes - I just started getting patches about 6 months ago. I think they're psoriasis, although my derm checked them awhile back and said 'no'. I had psoriasis when I was a kid and 'grew out of it', but it seems the same to me. My fingernails have started to pit, too.
