Hey ladybug! Have you seen a doctor will actually a dermatologist that specialized with lupus patients? If you have all you’re going to in the future and they are going to give you the right stuff to put on your scalp and they will explain what types of shampoos or whatever to use.

Hair loss due to lupus can be managed, but the effectiveness of treatments varies:

- Discoid Lesions: If hair loss is caused by discoid lesions, it cannot be reversed once scarring is present. However, topical steroids and oral medications can help stop the spread of these lesions if treated early.
- Medication Side Effects: Hair loss caused by lupus medications is usually temporary and can be reversed when the medication is stopped.
- Shampoos: Using gentle, fragrance-free shampoos without harsh chemicals can help manage scalp symptoms. Always test new shampoos on a small area first to check for reactions.

It's important to treat lupus first and then address hair loss. Always discuss with your doctor for personalized advice.

In my experience nothing helped. I tried various treatments, various shampoos, some vitamin treatments. My choice is a short haircut OR a medium length haircut with visible hair loss. It's a discouraging issue. (I was originally told it's a problem with Discoid Lupus; I have Systemic.)

I have been using nioxin for a few years now. My hair loss has stopped. It's not a real cheap shampoo, but I have my haircut really short. It's about $100 for a large bottle of the shampoo and conditioner and I only use a small amount because my hair is so short. It lasts me about 6:00 to 9 months.

Hi so sorry you’re having the hair loss problem, I am currently under a dermatologist for the same thing I was prescribed a medicated shampoo ketoconazole, and clobetasol a topical solution for my scalp. It has helped me recover some of my hair.
