I suffer from mixed connective tissue disease with lupus and this happens occasionally. I wrap the finger in a cold gel pack for a few minutes and it normally helps. My rheumatologist tried to tell me to come in for steroid injections if it lasted more than 24 hours because that’s when it deforms the fingers but steroids cause osteonecrosis so the cold pack has always been my go to

Yes, I had this issue in my early years with lupus, and it's tenosynovitis, which is inflammation of the tendons and synovium. It's also called trigger finger, and I found soaking in hot water helpful at the time. It's painful, and I hope you feel better soon!😘

@AthenaWildenborg--A hand surgeon can inject it with steroids, which will allow you to open it up. This is an excellent first step, and you can call them and ask for an urgent appointment due to your pain. Good luck, and I'm sorry the hot/cold water didn't work as it did for me.😘

My sister ending up going to the ER and they I believe cut the tendon in her finger and splinted it.

My finger does this. From past experience it’s trigger finger. My doctor agrees.
