Try Shea butter on your lips. A little bit goes a long way.

Experiencing a raw tongue, upper mouth, and raw lips can be quite painful and is a common issue for those with lupus. Here are some ways to help manage these symptoms:

1. Increase Water Intake: Drink more water to keep your oral tissues moist.
2. Good Oral Hygiene: Practice good oral hygiene and consider chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free candies to stimulate saliva production.
3. Lip Balm: Use a lip balm with healing ingredients like mineral oil, shea butter, or petroleum jelly. You may need to try several types to find one that works best for you.
4. Sunscreen for Lips: Protect your lips from sun exposure by using a lip balm that contains SPF.
5. Soft-Bristle Toothbrush: Use a soft-bristle toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste to gently clean your teeth.
6. Stress Management: Manage stress through therapy or stress reduction methods.
7. Avoid Certain Foods: Avoid foods that may irritate your mouth.

If these symptoms persist, it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider for further advice and treatment options.
