I have a bump/nodule on each Achilles tendon. Just above my heel. It sometimes is so painful. Been to my family doctor for my left one, and when he examined me - he e said I had one on the right too. Said my shoes were causing it - but I wear only loose sneakers. No blisters or skin irritation at all. Anyone experience this? Today the right is so sore, that if I touch my shin it hurts.

Willow, this can be due to Achilles tendonitis, or tendon inflammation. Bursitis is another cause, and ice may help relieve the pain. Please see a podiatrist, as they specialize in treating this problem. Overdoing can be a cause, and lupus may make us more prone to this, given our overall inflammatory state.

Yes my doctor said the nodules come because I have fibromyalgia. I’ve never heard this before. But I just looked at him and did not say a word. 👀👀

@KathrynFeike--My feet hurt often, too, and immersing them in cold water even for a few minutes is very helpful to reduce the inflammation.

Willow, I have this, too, on both sides. I've been seeing doctors for 2yrs for it and have finally progressed through treatment options to a Tenex procedure. I have chronic insertional achilles tendonopathy, diagnosed by MRI, which has reduced the blood flow to the area with the bump. The procedure will essentially remove the diseased tissue keeping the healthy tendon attached. I'm hopeful that after the procedure I'll be able to get back to walking for activity. I hope you find answers, too!
