Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) can be a challenging symptom that affects people with lupus. This kind of sweating may happen without any relation to heat or physical activity, and can affect specific body parts or your entire body. Some people experience night sweats that can be so severe they soak through clothing and disrupt sleep. The burning sensations you're experiencing in your hands are likely related to peripheral neuropathy, which is nerve damage that can occur with lupus. Many people experience these burning sensations differently - it can feel like:

• A random hot spot in specific areas
• A chemical-like burning sensation
• Pain that comes "out of the blue"
• Discomfort that gets worse with touch or during activities like showering

These symptoms can occur with or without visible skin changes.
