I see rainbow-like colors on the outside of my vision. They come and go, and don't have any effect on my regular vision. It affects my peripheral vision. My opthalmologist said it wasn't lupus related, but I googled it out of curiosity, and it mentioned lupus being one of the causes of this rare phenomenon.
I sure was. I find that people who have lupus have many oddball things happen with them.
I had an optical migraine a number of years ago. I was still working at the time and all of a sudden I was blind. A co-worker took me to the eye doctor and he said it would pass. My eyesight returned in a matter of hours. Never happened again.
Hi there. I have migraines and the experience you are speaking to is called seeing an “aura.” They usually come on right before the migraines start and can continue to be present for the length of the migraine. My neurologist said it’s common to have them. I used to get migraines more frequently when I was young and treated them with Imitrex. Since I’ve gotten older, they don’t happen as frequently. (Thank goodness!!). I’m sorry you are experiencing them as well. Do you take anything for them?
Wow! I bet you were scared! Huggs
Vision changes can be a concerning symptom for people with lupus. While your ophthalmologist has indicated this isn't lupus-related, it's important to monitor any changes in vision carefully. Lupus can affect various parts of the eye including the retina, and symptoms can range from mild to severe.
