I was just prescribed prisms for my glasses and realize I should have asked more questions and have seen reasons online to avoid prisms in your glasses. I’m confused.
@A MyLupusTeam Member, I know this can be confusing and I am sorry you are having this issue... I also have double vision it's intermittent and I now see a neuro-ophthalmologist. The intermittent double vision I have is not due to dry eyes... I am being monitored for neurologic involvement that is producing symptoms of intermittent double vision... For now the doctor is holding off on prisms for my glasses. I also have sjogren's as well 💜
If you are uncertain about your ophthalmologist's recommendations, please consider seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist. They specialize in problems like double vision.
My opthamologist suggested that I take flaxseed oil as a supplement to help lubricate my eyes. She thought that since mybtear ducts were fine, my souble vision (which came snd went) was due to lack of oil in my eyes.
I’m still having trouble with close reading so back for hopefully a tweak! But thanks, Vanessa!💕💗💖
Update! I have my new glasses with the prisms and despite a kind of rough readjustment at first, I’m not seeing double! My distance vision is so much more distinct and clear and no more double street lights and double road signs which we’re making me very nervous while driving! The reading has greatly improved too-while not quite there yet, I find I can read without closing one eye much more easily too. I can still feel a bit of a fight between my eyes and my glasses or maybe my brain but it’s improving everyday and almost perfect! I can’t be more satisfied! Time will tell, if the prisms continue to work so well, or if (as the downside says) my brain will require more or stronger prisms! Day by day is how we have learned with Lupus!count our blessings for good days! Hope you are all doing well!💕💗❤️❣️
