Sounds like a flare have you consulted your rheumatologist?

I was feeling painful sores in my mouth & was also having fevers at the same time. I had ulcers in my mouth. I was getting corneal ulcers at the same time. I don't test positive for anything but lupus. I'm on Plaquenil with great results, but 20+ years ago, when I didn't test positive for any disease but markers in my lab teats showed the rheumatologist that I had something. I was put on Plaquenil for 6 months with no relief, Methotrexate didn't work either. I'm hoping to not have any new, 1st time symptoms anymore.

Do mouth sores and skin sores occur at the same time in lupus?

Yes, mouth sores and skin lesions can occur around the same time, especially during lupus flares. Both are common signs of active disease when lupus symptoms are more noticeable or worse than usual.

Mouth and nose sores are experienced by about 8 to 45 percent of people with lupus. These ulcers are often a direct symptom of lupus activity and frequently appear during flare-ups.

Similarly, skin issues like rashes and small sores on the body can also develop during active lupus periods. Some people experience a butterfly rash on their face along with mouth ulcers, while others may develop various types of skin lesions.

Since both symptoms are linked to lupus disease activity, it makes sense that they might appear together when your immune system is more active. However, everyone's lupus experience is different, and symptoms don't always follow the same pattern for each person.

If you're noticing both types of sores appearing together, it could be a sign that your lupus is more active. It's worth discussing with your rheumatologist, as they may need to adjust your treatment plan to better manage your symptoms.
